BTTC Runs Successful Junior Focus Taster Session

Barnsley Table Tennis run its first ever taster session on Tuesday 22nd February. It was available to children aged 7-11 and focused on the basic fundaments needed to enjoy the game of table tennis. Much of the session was run like a PingIt session, with the whole group split into two smaller groups who then competed in fun games and activities. 

The session started out with a fun warm up including sidestepping, running and ball control. The children were in competition against each other to see who could balance the ball on their bat for the longest. We then had a good period of time on the table, competing in forehand and backhand activities, aiming for targets and developing shot technique and consistency. Both groups did extremely well and it was great to see a dedication and commitment from everyone. 

Following this, there will be a session available every Tuesday 16:30-18:00, focused on beginners and available to everyone who attended the taster session. The sessions will be £3 each and will include more in depth coaching as the children look to improve and develop their table tennis skills.

A big thank you to Joe and Ian for running the taster session. We will look to provide more of these in the future as we continue to grow as a club and as we work to deliver our club aim and vision!
